MrBeast's Game Show: Beast Games (Everything You Need to Know)
Popular YouTuber, Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast online, is one of, if not the most popular social media influencer on the planet. His upcoming show, Beast Games, will host 1,000 contestants competing for the "the biggest single prize in the history of television and streaming." of $5,000,000 cash. He has also stated that everyone who came to compete won at least $2,000. The show also includes over 1,000 contestants, the most ever for a game show.
Pre-Production
The show opened up applications in May, on beastgames.com, which were quickly filled. The show then selected about 2,000 contestants that would compete in the first part of the challenge. The show is produced by Donaldson, and many of other people that work at his company, including some recognizable names, like Mack Hopkins, who some may recognize as an editor and personality from the YouTube creator Eric Decker- better known as Airrack online. Hopkins later moved to Greenville, North Carolina where he now works with Donaldson. Another recognizable name for fans of MrBeast videos is Tyler Conklin, who used to be an onscreen contestant and friend of Donaldson's, but has now moved behind the screen and produces for MrBeast.
Release Date & Filming
Donaldson announced the deal in March 2024, saying that he had come to a deal for $100,000,000 with Amazon's MGM Studios. Filming began in July 2024, with 2,000 contestants in Las Vegas. After narrowing it down to about 1,000 people, filming continued and finished in Toronto, CA. The first two episodes of Beast Games will release on Thursday, December 19th. From then on, each of the next eight episodes will premiere on a weekly basis, ending on February 13th next year with the show's tenth episode and finale.
Controversy & Lawsuit
Beast Games has been under fire, especially as Donaldson has had many alleged accusations thrown at him by former employees aimed towards his company. But, Beast Games has a class action lawsuit filed in LA. This was confirmed in Donaldson's first acknowledgement of the situation, on a podcast with an online creator named Oompaville. This is quite an alarming accusation, as other accusations and questions about Donaldson's working conditions have piled up in recent months, causing a decline in viewership for the influencer. But as the show will likely be heavily advertised by MGM in the coming months, we have no doubt that the viewership for the show will be very high when the time comes.
